The roiling Pacific Ocean meets the Columbia River at the North Jetty near Cape Disappointment State Park in Pacific County, Washington. The confluence of these two mighty bodies of water produces great turbulence and has been responsible for hundreds of shipwrecks. The North Jetty was constructed by the US Army Corps of Engineers between 1913 and 1917.
